Werner Lemberg 92aa527a 2005-05-23T21:33:02 * builds/amiga/makefile.os4 (WARNINGS), builds/compiler/gcc-dev.mk (CFLAGS), builds/compiler/gcc.mk (CFLAGS): Remove -fno-strict-aliasing. Say you have `(Foo*)x' and want to assign, pass, or return it as `(Bar*)'. If you simply say `x' or `(Bar*)x', then the C compiler would warn you that type casting incompatible pointer types breaks strict-aliasing. The solution is to cast to `(void*)' instead which is the generic pointer type, so the compiler knows that it should make no strict-aliasing assumption on `x'. But the problem with `(void*)x' is that seems like in C++, unlike C, `void*' is not a generic pointer type and assigning `void*' to `Bar*' without a cast causes an error. The solution is to cast to `Bar*' too, with `(Bar*)(void*)x' as the result -- this is what the patch does. * include/freetype/cache/ftccache.h (FTC_CACHE_LOOKUP_CMP), include/freetype/cache/ftcmru.h (FTC_MRULIST_LOOKUP_CMP): Remove cast on lvalue, use a temporary pointer instead. Cast temporarily to (void*) to not break strict aliasing. * include/freetype/internal/ftmemory.h (FT_MEM_ALLOC, FT_MEM_REALLOC, FT_MEM_QALLOC, FT_MEM_QREALLOC, FT_MEM_FREE), src/base/ftglyph.c (FT_Glyph_To_Bitmap): Cast temporarily to (void*) to not break strict aliasing. * src/base/ftinit.c (FT_USE_MODULE): Fix wrong type information. * builds/unix/configure.ac (XX_CFLAGS): Remove -fno-strict-aliasing. * src/sfnt/rules.mk (SFNT_DRV_SRC): Don't include ttsbit0.c -- it is currently loaded from ttsbit.c. Other formatting.
Werner Lemberg d726e41c 2003-06-17T22:50:09 * builds/compiler/gcc.mk, builds/compiler/gcc-dev.mk (CFLAGS): Add -fno-strict-aliasing to get rid of zillion warnings from gcc version 3.3.
Werner Lemberg 858f310b 2003-06-09T04:46:30 Completely revised FreeType's make management. . In all makefiles `/' is used as the path separator. The conversion to the real path separators is done as late as possible using $(subst ...). . $(HOSTSEP) no longer exists. Now, $(SEP) gives the path separator for the operating system, and the new $(COMPILER_SEP) the path separator for the compiler tools. . $(BUILD) has been renamed to $(BUILD_DIR). In general, all directory variables end with `_DIR'. The variants ending in `_' (like `BASE_' have been removed). The following ChangeLog entries only describe changes which are not related to the redesign. * builds/beos/beos-def.mk (BUILD_DIR): Fix typo. * builds/compiler/watcom.mk (LINK_LIBRARY): Fix linker call to avoid overlong arguments as suggested by J. Ali Harlow <ali@avrc.city.ac.uk>. * builds/dos/dos-wat.mk: New file. * builds/freetype.mk (FREETYPE_H): Include header files from the `devel' subdirectory. * builds/os2/os2-dev.mk, builds/unix/unixddef.mk, builds/unix/unixddef.mk, builds/win32/w32-bccd.mk, builds/win32/w32-dev.mk (BUILD_DIR): Fix path. * builds/unix/configure.ac, builds/unic/configure: Updated. * builds/unix/unix-def.in (DISTCLEAN): Add `freetype2.pc'. * devel/ftoption.h: Updated.
David Turner 4312f427 2001-05-24T15:00:19 moving documents to the "docs" directory
Werner Lemberg cbc9938e 2001-04-06T07:05:50 * builds/os2/*.mk: These files have been forgotten to update to the structure of similar makefiles. * builds/dos/*.mk: Ditto. * builds/ansi/*.mk: Ditto. * builds/win32/win32-def.mk (BUILD): Fix typo. * builds/compiler/*.mk (CLEAN_LIBRARY): Don't use NO_OUTPUT. This is already used in the link_*.mk files. * src/*/Jamfile: Slight changes to make files more cryptic.
Werner Lemberg 91481f8a 2000-11-04T23:41:02 Introduced $(space) in the makefiles to get rid of using the comment separator for indicating a trailing space.
Werner Lemberg 47a5f41d 2000-10-17T03:38:43 Added copyright messages to all Makefiles. Added documentation to FT_Get_Sfnt_* stuff (in ftnames.[ch]) minor other doc fixes
Werner Lemberg bd547dc6 2000-09-22T21:23:29 Clean up, formatting etc. Fixing rules for installing cache headers on Unix. Updating builds/unix/ftconfig.in.
