Aurora Zhang 34db1c20 2025-03-20T12:56:42 Vulkan: glReadPixels should nearest sample the YUV render target Vulkan backend uses texture except texelFetch to obtain the YUV image value for glReadPixels. According to the chroma filter set in the image, it may apply LINEAR sampling. * Change this filter to NEAREST inside glReadPixels to get the correct pixel values. * Modify the fragment shader used in glReadPixels to make sure sampling from the center of the pixel. * Add a new end2end test. This resulted in two bugs: - When X was flipped, the bounds check rejected the first column - The sampling could pick the wrong pixel as the on-the-edge coordinates could map to either of 4 pixels that share that corner. This change moves the sampling coordinates to the pixel's center. Shahbaz Youssefi 8c341cfd 2023-10-04T12:49:59 Vulkan: Fix blits involving 3D images The layer vs depth value involved with 3D images when calling vkCmdBlitImage is fixed in this change. However, that brought to light that the combination of VUID-vkCmdBlitImage-srcImage-00240 and VUID-vkCmdBlitImage-dstImage-00252 make it impossible to blit between 3D and 2D array images, which is likely a spec oversight. This change makes 3D<->2DArray blits fall back to draw-based blit. This in turn exposed the fact that 3D images as src were not handled in BlitResolve.frag. A new Blit3DSrc.frag shader is added which shares code with BlitResolve.frag to implement this. This is a separate shader to avoid creating unnecessary and invalid combinations of shaders. VK_EXT_image_2d_view_of_3d could have been used to avoid this new shader, but that is not ubiquitous. Greg Schlomoff d07965b3 2023-09-25T16:54:00 Workaround for the ETC2 transcoding bug on some AMD GPUs. We now perform alpha encoding first, in 8-bit alpha mode. While this should not make any difference from a logic perspective, it does fix a bug on certain AMD GPUs. See b/300672851 for details. Tested on a Radeon RX 560X Series GPU, which current drivers. Hailin Zhang 1301402c 2023-03-23T21:56:45 Vulkan: improve etc to bc grident texture precison. ETC has gradient modes. Two endpoints in BC are RGB565; the color depth is lower than ETC. Two endpoints in RGB888 space may be quite different, but after conversion to RGB565 they may be projected to the same point. This conversion loses quite a lot of details. This change tries to change one endpoint to an adjacent one (not optimal) in RGB565, so that all the colors are interpolated from these two endpoints. With this change, the arknight image in b/259327729 improved PSNR from 39 to 49. This change includes some of work by @gregschlom 1) Use look up table instead of bit operation. 2) Use more vector operations. That is when stencil needs to be unresolved and VK_EXT_shader_stencil_export is not supported. This change adds a path to emulate VK_EXT_shader_stencil_export and removes this inefficiency. This should help Chromium on older Android devices that lack both this and the recent VK_EXT_multisampled_render_to_single_sampled extensions. Chromium frequently breaks the render pass (crbug.com/1336981), which easily leads to this situation. In BufferVk, the offset of the suballocation was discarded, which limited the use of DynamicBuffer to a pool of small buffers. This change applies any such offset that may arise from suballocations everywhere, and makes BufferVk use a larger buffer size when the GL_DYNAMIC_* buffer usage hints are provided. As a workaround, the shader now does an if-else on the value of n and uses a constant to load the appropriate component of the vector. The dynamic year values were replaced by the current year at the time the file was created according to git log. The code to dynamically generate the year was removed. Use the vertex conversion pipeline in VertexArrayVk to detect static vertex data and convert float32 vertices to float16. This feature is useful for determining if an allication is vertex bandwidth bound and seeing what gains could be had by using smaller attributes. This feature could be implemented in ANGLE's frontend but new infrastructure for converting and storing the converted attributes would need to be added to gl::VertexArray. Our backends already have the functionality needed to handle unsupported attribute formats and this can be repurposed for compressing vertex formats. A new VertexArrayVk::convertVertexBuffer() function is added that has the same functionality in gpu (with some assumptions, where the CPU fallback is used should those assumptions fail). Currently, the only requirement is that buffer offset/stride are divided by the component size. ConvertVertex.comp is the shader responsible for this conversion, and it implements the functionality in renderer/copyvertex.inc, minus a few functions that are not used in the Vulkan backend. Other possibilities include more efficient mip map generation, or specialized texture operations. VertexArrayVk::updateIndexTranslation() is updated to convert the GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE index buffer to a GL_UNSIGNED_SHORT one using this class to avoid a CPU readback. The vk::Format class is augmented with a few flags (IsInt, IsUnsigned) to be able to select the appropriate shader based on the format (float, int or uint). But it completely obviates the need for any switches in the validation code. Speed is slightly faster or the similar depending on the back-end. Also add gl_angle_ext.xml to GL entry point generator inputs. This was missing and would cause the code generation to miss certain changes. The variations consist of a set of flags and a set of enums. Each enum defines a variation that takes one of a few values. Flags are shorthands for 2-value enums. In the shader code, #if can be used to change the shader based on variations derived from flags and enums. On the C++ side, those variations are combined into an index and the appropriate shader is retrieved from a table. Jamie Madill d47044ad 2018-04-27T11:45:03 Vulkan: Add framework for internal shaders. Vulkan intenal shaders are stored in a ShaderLibrary, and this is owned by the RendererVk. This way the shaders are reused between all the different Contexts. They are initialized lazily to keep init time low. They also have an associated Serial (called a ProgramSerial) so they can be identified in a PipelineDesc (used by the Pipeline cache). We use a python script to build and invoke the glslang validator, that also produces SPIR-V binary code snippets. These snippets are gathered into an auto-generated file that is exposed via an auto-generated header file. The InternalShaderID enum class gives access to the internal shaders that are shared through the Vulkan back-end. This also adds simple clear shaders to be used in masked color clears. The patch doesn't add any functionality but it is split off from the color clear functionality to keep the code size down.
