Eric Blake 599bbd22 2009-11-11T13:23:04 mknod: new module Solaris 9 mknod("name/",mode,dev) mistakenly creates "name" for non-directory mode. FreeBSD 7.2 mknod("dangling/",mode,dev) mistakenly creates the target of the symlink if run as root. FreeBSD and OpenBSD mknod("fifo",S_IFIFO|mode,0) fails for non-root. Use of mknod caused link failures on mingw. * modules/mknod: New file. * m4/mknod.m4 (gl_FUNC_MKNOD): Likewise. * lib/mknod.c (mknod): Likewise. * m4/sys_stat_h.m4 (gl_SYS_STAT_H_DEFAULTS): Set witness defaults. * modules/sys_stat (Makefile.am): Substitute them. * lib/sys_stat.in.h (mknod): Declare replacement. * MODULES.html.sh (Support for systems lacking POSIX:2008): Document it. * doc/posix-functions/mknod.texi (mknod): Likewise. * modules/mknod-tests: New test. * tests/test-mknod.c: Likewise. Eric Blake 08166afd 2009-11-11T13:22:04 mkfifo: new module Solaris 9 mkfifo("name/",mode) mistakenly creates "name". FreeBSD 7.2 mkfifo("dangling/",mode) mistakenly creates a fifo at the target of "dangling". Jim Meyering 47a8dd64 2009-08-22T11:28:08 annotate automake snippets with $(AM_V_GEN) and $(AM_V_at) This makes it so packages using automake-1.11's silent-rules option can print e.g., a single "GEN configmake.h" line, rather than the 30+ statements that perform the job. If you want to see the actual commands, you can still run "make V=1". Jim Meyering 0f55f146 2006-09-08T12:26:34 Don't make generated files read-only. That would bother too many people. However, do retain the ability to work when targets are read-only: remove the destination and temporary files before writing them (when generated via sed or echo), or by using the -f option for both cp and mv commands. Paul Eggert 91182f18 2006-07-04T06:37:09 * m4/absolute-header.m4: Renamed from full-header-path.m4. This is to keep the terminology clean; POSIX talks about "absolute pathnames", not "full pathnames", but the GNU Coding Standards say to use "path" for something else; so use "absolute" to keep both sides happy. (gl_ABSOLUTE_HEADER): Renamed from gl_FULL_HEADER_PATH. Set gl_absolute_header, not gl_full_header_path. Set gl_cv_absolute_<header>, not gl_full_path_<header>. Define ABSOLUTE_<HEADER>, not FULL_PATH_<HEADER>. All uses changed.
