Azat Khuzhin b29207dc 2019-01-29T21:12:33 Eliminate fd conversion warnings and introduce EVUTIL_INVALID_SOCKET (windows) windows has intptr_t instead of regular int. Also tt_fd_op() had been introduced, since we cannot use tt_int_op() for comparing fd, since it is not always int.
Azat Khuzhin 908e710d 2018-11-13T21:31:44 bev_async: trigger/run only deferred callbacks Otherwise callbacks will be runned even without event_loop, due to nature of IOCP. A simple example is: evhttp_connection_free(client) # freeing the client will trigger evhttp_connection_free() for the # client on the server side, and hence there will double free evhttp_free(server) Fixes: iocp/http/simple
Azat Khuzhin 2bf673a4 2018-11-13T11:47:14 bev_async: do not initialize timeouts multiple times You cannot event_assign() event multiple times, this is UB, and most likely will fail. Fixes: af9b2a7ae0be11c79a909d212b1833a9379e4ba0 ("Initialize async bufferevent timeout CBs unconditionally")
Azat Khuzhin e73875df 2018-11-11T21:51:46 bev_async: set "ok" on setfd if fd>=0 (like we do during creation) Otherwise after .setfd, .enable will not work.
Azat Khuzhin a54c0349 2018-11-11T21:35:20 bev_async: ignore ERROR_INVALID_PARAMETER on .setfd for iocp listener already calls event_iocp_port_associate_() the second call will return ERROR_INVALID_PARAMETER. Plus we already ignore it on creation, so why we should care about it here?
Dominic Chen 92cc0b9c 2017-04-13T14:58:13 bufferevent: refactor to use type check macros
Azat Khuzhin f133b869 2014-11-21T09:00:12 be async: avoid double close() In case when between this two close (close(F), close(F)) some open() will be executed, than we will close newly opened fd. Reported-by: xujiezhige@163.com
Nick Mathewson af9b2a7a 2014-03-12T13:25:02 Initialize async bufferevent timeout CBs unconditionally This is a fix for bug #93 on nmathewson/Libevent.
Ondřej Kuzník a7384c78 2013-12-03T23:01:54 Add an option to trigger bufferevent event callbacks
Ondřej Kuzník 61ee18b8 2013-12-03T22:49:57 Add an option to trigger bufferevent I/O callbacks
Nick Mathewson 02fbf687 2013-04-09T18:16:13 Use finalization feature so bufferevents can avoid deadlocks Since the bufferevents' events are now EV_FINALIZE (name pending), they won't deadlock. To clean up properly, though, we must use the finalization feature. This patch also split bufferevent deallocation into an "unlink" step that happens fast, and a "destruct" step that happens after finalization. More work is needed: there needs to be a way to specify a finalizer for the bufferevent's argument itself. Also, this finalizer business makes lots of the reference counting we were doing unnecessary. Also, more testing is needed.
Nick Mathewson 8ac3c4c2 2012-02-29T15:07:33 Have all visible internal function names end with an underscore. We haven't had a convention for naming internal functions in -internal.h versus naming visible functions in include/**.h. This patch changes every function declared in a -internal.h file to be named ending with an underscore. Static function names are unaffected, since there's no risk of calling them from outside Libevent. This is an automatic conversion. Nick Mathewson 68120d9b 2012-02-29T15:07:31 Convert event-config.h macros to avoid reserved identifiers C reserves all identifiers beginning with an underscore for system use. But we had been mangling our autoconf identifiers with the prefix "_EVENT_" to avoid conflict with other programs. Instead, we will now use the prefix "EVENT__". With any luck, the double-underscore will still hint "here be dragons" to anybody tempted to think that event-config.h is a stable api. This is an automatically generated patch. The script that produced it was made by running this script over config.h.in: ===== #!/usr/bin/perl -w # Run this on config.h.in use strict; my %macros = (); while (<>) { if (/^# *undef +([A-Za-z0-9_]+)/) { $macros{$1} = 1; } } print "#!/usr/bin/perl -w -i -p\n\n"; for my $k (sort keys %macros) { print "s/(?<![A-Za-z0-9_])_EVENT_$k(?![A-Za-z0-9_])/EVENT__$k/g;\n"; } == And the script that it generated was then run over all .c and .h files: #!/usr/bin/perl -w -i -p s/(?<![A-Za-z0-9_])_EVENT_DISABLE_DEBUG_MODE(?![A-Za-z0-9_])/EVENT__DISABLE_DEBUG_MODE/g; Nick Mathewson a98da7bf 2011-08-24T18:41:35 Make IOCP rate-limiting group support stricter and less surprising. Previously, we wouldn't decrement read/write buckets because of IOCP reads and writes until those reads and writes were complete. That's not so bad on the per-connection front. But for group limits, the old approach makes us launch a huge amount of reads and writes whenever the group limit becomes positive, and then decrement the limit to a hugely negative number as they complete. With this patch, we decrement our read buckets whenever we launch an IOCP read or write, based on the maximum that tried to read or write. Later, when the operations finish, we re-increment the bucket based on the portion of the request that couldn't finish.

Christopher Davis 76f7e7ae 2010-08-17T05:02:00 Some IOCP bufferevent tweaks. - Increment reference count of bufferevents before initiating overlapped operations to prevent the destructor from being called while operations are pending. The only portable way of canceling overlapped ops is to close the socket. - Translate error codes to WSA* codes. - Better handling of errors. - Add an interface to add and del "virtual" events. Because IOCP bufferevents don't register any events with the base, the event loop has no way of knowing they exist. This causes the loop to terminate prematurely. event_base_{add,del}_virtual increment/decrement base's event count so the loop runs while there are any enabled IOCP bufferevents.

Nick Mathewson d3288293 2010-02-20T18:44:35 Provide consistent, tested semantics for bufferevent timeouts The different bufferevent implementations had different behavior for their timeouts. Some of them kept re-triggering the timeouts indefinitely; some disabled the event immediately the first time a timeout triggered. Some of them made the timeouts only count when the bufferevent was actively trying to read or write; some did not. The new behavior is modeled after old socket bufferevents, since they were here first and their behavior is relatively sane. Basically, each timeout disables the bufferevent's corresponding read or write operation when it fires. Timeouts are stopped whenever we suspend writing or reading, and reset whenever we unsuspend writing or reading. Calling bufferevent_enable resets a timeout, as does changing the timeout value.

Nick Mathewson 165d30e3 2009-12-30T14:29:56 Fix compilation of rate-limiting code on win32.
Nick Mathewson 2e8eeea3 2009-12-29T19:50:03 Fix crash bugs when a bufferevent's eventcb is not set. In many places throughout the code, we called _bufferevent_run_eventcb without checking whether the eventcb was actually set. This would work fine when the bufferevent's callbacks were deferred, but otherwise the code would segfault. Strangely, we always remembered to check before calling the _bufferevent_run_{read,write}cb functions. To prevent similar errors in the future, all of _buferevent_run_{read,write,event}cb now check to make sure the callback is actually set before invoking or deferring the callback. This patch also removes the now-redundant checks for {read, write}cb.
Nick Mathewson 737c9cd8 2009-11-27T13:16:54 Rate-limiting for bufferevents; group and individual limits are supported. The fairness algorithms are not the best, not every bufferevent type is supported, and some of the locking tricks here are simply absurd. Still, this code should be a good first step.
Nick Mathewson d7d1f1da 2009-11-17T20:31:09 Move responsibility for IOCP callback into bufferevent_async. This patch from Chris Davis saves some callback depth, and adds proper ref-counting to bufferevents when there's a deferred evbuffer callback inflight. It could use a couple more comments to really nail down what its invariants are. svn:r1543

Nick Mathewson a62283a9 2009-07-17T17:46:17 Always hold a reference to a bufferevent when calling its callbacks. Rationale: we hold a lock on the bufferevent when its callbacks are executing, so we need to release the lock afterwards. But the callback might free the bufferevent, so unless we're holding a reference on the bufferevent, the lock might not be there for us to release. svn:r1347
Nick Mathewson 34574db0 2009-05-25T23:10:23 Add a generic mechanism to implement timeouts in bufferevents. Paired and asynchronous bufferevents didn't do timeouts, and filtering bufferevents gave them funny semantics. Now they all should all work in a way consistent with what socket bufferevents do now: a [read/write] timeout triggers if [reading/writing] is enabled, and if the timeout is set, and the right amount of time passes without any data getting [added to the input buffer/drained from the output buffer]. svn:r1314
Nick Mathewson 31d89f27 2009-05-13T20:37:21 Add a "ctrl" mechanism to bufferevents for property access. OpenSSL uses something like this to implement get/set access for properties on its BIOs, so that it doesn't need to add a pair of get/set functions to the vtable struct for every new abstract property it provides an accessor for. Doing this lets us make bufferevent_setfd abstract, and implement an abstract bufferevent_getfd. svn:r1284
