Edward Thomson b43567d6 2022-07-13T22:25:11 sha256: indirection for experimental functions The experimental function signature is only available when `GIT_EXPERIMENTAL_SHA256` is enabled.
Edward Thomson 6c57bac6 2022-06-14T22:29:10 sha256: make sha256 an experimental optional feature libgit2 can be built with optional, experimental sha256 support. This allows consumers to begin testing and providing feedback for our sha256 support while we continue to develop it, and allows us to make API breaking changes while we iterate on a final sha256 implementation. The results will be `git2-experimental.dll` and installed as `git2-experimental.h` to avoid confusion with a production libgit2.
Edward Thomson 14798060 2022-01-26T13:10:36 oid: specify a default implementation libgit2's current default oid type is SHA1, set a public macro for that.
Edward Thomson 0db1c57c 2022-01-25T10:32:47 oid: add sha256 typed oids
Edward Thomson 3fbf580c 2022-01-23T09:47:01 oid: give oids a type `git_oid`s now have a type, and we require the oid type when creating the object id from creation functions.
Edward Thomson c4360116 2021-12-12T09:56:28 oid: include maximum oid raw/hex sizes
Edward Thomson 74ffce20 2021-12-11T12:00:26 oid: introduce `git_oid_t` We require an enumeration to help us identify the different types of object IDs. Currently, we only support SHA1 but we will support SHA256 in the future.
Edward Thomson 0acaf3a8 2022-01-17T13:40:37 oid: define GIT_OID_SHA1_ZERO Callers should not assume the layout of the oid structure; provide them a macro that defines the null / zero sha1 object id.
Edward Thomson dbc4ac1c 2022-01-22T23:10:03 oid: `GIT_OID_*SZ` is now `GIT_OID_SHA1_*SIZE` In preparation for SHA256 support, `GIT_OID_RAWSZ` and `GIT_OID_HEXSZ` need to indicate that they're the size of _SHA1_ OIDs.
Edward Thomson 2e8c3b0b 2020-01-18T17:17:46 oid functions: return an int Stop returning a void for functions, future-proofing them to allow them to fail.
Edward Thomson 5d92e547 2019-06-08T17:28:35 oid: `is_zero` instead of `iszero` The only function that is named `issomething` (without underscore) was `git_oid_iszero`. Rename it to `git_oid_is_zero` for consistency with the rest of the library.
Edward Thomson 20961b98 2018-12-26T14:06:21 git_error: use full class name in public error API Move to the `git_error` name in error-related functions, deprecating the `giterr` functions. This means, for example, that `giterr_last` is now `git_error_last`. The old names are retained for compatibility. This only updates the public API; internal API and function usage remains unchanged.

Ben Chatelain ec7e1c93 2015-02-10T08:31:48 Fix doc comment formatting
Vicent Marti 4ca0b566 2014-08-18T12:41:06 oid: Export `git_oid_tostr_s` instead of `_allocfmt` The old `allocfmt` is of no use to callers, as they are not able to free the returned buffer. Export a new API that returns a static string that doesn't need to be freed.
Russell Belfer 978a4ed5 2014-02-20T11:00:31 Make git_oid_equal a non-inline API
Vicent Martí ac2e7dc6 2013-09-01T08:40:48 Merge pull request #1820 from linquize/git_oid_streq Update documentation of git_oid_streq to remove outdated error code
Linquize d45e9480 2013-08-31T18:22:50 oid: git_oid_shorten_add() sets GITERR_INVALID when OID set is full
Linquize e68938e0 2013-08-31T18:19:44 Update documentation of git_oid_streq to remove outdated error code
Andreas Linde e1967164 2013-06-24T15:33:41 Fixed most documentation header bugs Fixed a few header @param and @return typos with the help of -Wdocumentation in Xcode. The following warnings have not been fixed: common.h:213 - Not sure how the documentation format is for '...' notes.h:102 - Correct @param name but empty text notes.h:111 - Correct @param name but empty text pack.h:140 - @return missing text pack.h:148 - @return missing text
Russell Belfer 660d59ca 2013-05-17T16:40:00 Add git_oid_nfmt - a flexible OID formatter I frequently want to the the first N digits of an OID formatted as a string and I'd like it to be efficient. This function makes that easy and I could rewrite the OID formatters in terms of it.
Russell Belfer 203d5b0e 2013-04-29T18:20:58 Some cleanups Removed useless prototype and renamed object typecast functions declaration macro.
Russell Belfer b7f167da 2013-04-29T13:52:12 Make git_oid_cmp public and add git_oid__cmp
Russell Belfer aa8f0101 2013-04-29T08:59:46 Add git_oid_strcmp and use it for git_oid_streq Add a new git_oid_strcmp that compares a string OID with a hex oid for sort order, and then reimplement git_oid_streq using it. This actually should speed up git_oid_streq because it only reads as far into the string as it needs to, whereas previously it would convert the whole string into an OID and then use git_oid_cmp.
Russell Belfer 0c72248b 2013-04-29T07:34:13 Introduce git_oid_compare, an exported oid cmp
Russell Belfer 37ee70fa 2013-03-25T22:19:39 Implement GIT_STATUS_OPT_EXCLUDE_SUBMODULES This option has been sitting unimplemented for a while, so I finally went through and implemented it along with some tests. As part of this, I improved the implementation of GIT_DIFF_IGNORE_SUBMODULES so it be more diligent about avoiding extra work and about leaving off delta records for submodules to the greatest extent possible (though it may include them still if you are request TYPECHANGE records).
Xavier L 0c8efb38 2013-03-21T11:59:01 Added an oid function that accepts nul-terminated strings
Edward Thomson 359fc2d2 2013-01-08T17:07:25 update copyrights
Ben Straub 74f91322 2012-11-27T12:45:44 API updates for oid.h
Russell Belfer 5f4a61ae 2012-08-09T19:43:25 Working implementation of git_submodule_status This is a big redesign of the git_submodule_status API and the implementation of the redesigned API. It also fixes a number of bugs that I found in other parts of the submodule API while writing the tests for the status part. This also fixes a couple of bugs in the iterators that had not been noticed before - one with iterating when there is a gitlink (i.e. separate-work-dir) and one where I was treating anything even vaguely submodule-like as a submodule, more aggressively than core git does.
Vicent Marti e25dda51 2012-08-02T01:38:30 Merge remote-tracking branch 'nulltoken/topic/amd64-compat' into development Conflicts: src/netops.c src/netops.h src/oid.c
Michael Schubert f6b26e77 2012-07-27T10:53:09 git_oid_cmp: inline memcmp by hand to optimize git.git uses an inlined hashcmp function instead of memcmp, since it performes much better when comparing hashes (most hashes compared diverge within the first byte). Measurements and rationale for the curious reader: http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.version-control.git/172286

Sascha Cunz 0c9a5565 2012-05-11T04:12:18 Add missing GIT_EXTERN declarations
Authmillenon 5621d809 2012-03-06T17:51:04 Rename git_oid_to_string to git_oid_tostr To conform the naming scheme of git_oid_fromstr we should change the name of git_oid_to_string to git_oid_tostr.
Russell Belfer 74fa4bfa 2012-02-28T16:14:47 Update diff to use iterators This is a major reorganization of the diff code. This changes the diff functions to use the iterators for traversing the content. This allowed a lot of code to be simplified. Also, this moved the functions relating to outputting a diff into a new file (diff_output.c). This includes a number of other changes - adding utility functions, extending iterators, etc. plus more tests for the diff code. This also takes the example diff.c program much further in terms of emulating git-diff command line options.

nulltoken 34aff010 2011-10-12T14:06:23 oid: Add git_oid_streq() which checks if an oid and an hex formatted string are equal
Vicent Marti 87d9869f 2011-09-19T03:34:49 Tabify everything There were quite a few places were spaces were being used instead of tabs. Try to catch them all. This should hopefully not break anything. Except for `git blame`. Oh well.
Vicent Marti bb742ede 2011-09-19T01:54:32 Cleanup legal data 1. The license header is technically not valid if it doesn't have a copyright signature. 2. The COPYING file has been updated with the different licenses used in the project. 3. The full GPLv2 header in each file annoys me.
David Boyce d9111722 2011-09-13T12:30:25 Standardized doxygen @return lines for int functions to say "GIT_SUCCESS or an error code".
Lambert CLARA ac2351fd 2011-07-25T20:23:23 Modify struct definition to enable forward declare with C++ compiler, thus avoid including C library's header in C++ header.

Vicent Marti d5afc039 2011-06-28T19:15:48 Remove redundant methods from the API A bunch of redundant methods have been removed from the external API. - All the reference/tag creation methods with `_f` are gone. The force flag is now passed as an argument to the normal create methods. - All the different commit creation methods are gone; commit creation now always requires a `git_commit` pointer for parents and a `git_tree` pointer for tree, to ensure that corrupted commits cannot be generated. - All the different tag creation methods are gone; tag creation now always requires a `git_object` pointer to ensure that tags are not created to inexisting objects.
Vicent Marti f1d01851 2011-06-16T02:48:48 oid: Uniformize ncmp methods Drop redundant methods. The ncmp method is now public
Vicent Marti fa48608e 2011-06-16T02:36:21 oid: Rename methods Yeah. Finally. Fuck the old names, this ain't POSIX and they don't make any sense at all.

Marc Pegon c09093cc 2011-06-06T10:55:36 Renamed git_oid_match to git_oid_ncmp. As suggested by carlosmn, git_oid_ncmp would probably be a better name than git_oid_match, for it does the same as git_oid_cmp but only up to a certain amount of hex digits.
Marc Pegon da03c9f3 2011-05-29T11:45:34 Changed return value of git_oid_match to be consistent with the other compare methods (0 means oids match). Added method to compare prefixes of hex formatted oids.
Marc Pegon 53c0bd81 2011-05-27T22:37:10 Added error for ambiguous oid prefixes. Added methods to compare the first nth hexadecimal characters (i.e. packets of 4 bits) of OIDs.
Marc Pegon ac2b94ad 2011-05-28T21:24:25 Added a GIT_OID_MINPREFIXLEN constant to define the minimum length allowed for oid prefixes (set to 4, like in git). Consequently updated some object lookup methods and their documentation.
Vicent Marti 26022f07 2011-03-05T23:54:49 Add `git_oid_shorten` (unique OID minimzer) Set of methods to find the minimal-length to uniquely identify every OID in a list. Useful for GUI applications, commit logs and so on. Includes stress test. Signed-off-by: Vicent Marti <tanoku@gmail.com>
