Geoff Lang f1150231 2024-01-16T16:28:36 Track WebGL buffer type in gl::Buffer state. WebGL has special validation that disallows buffers from changing "WebGL buffer type". Once a buffer is marked as having index data it cannot be bound as any other type of buffer except the copy binding points to copy to other index buffers. This disallows any GPU writes to buffers used for index data. Use this rule to shadow index buffer data when the driver is unable to give us robust access. Index range computation can be done much faster when the buffer does not need to be read back. Charlie Lao fe28a429 2022-03-30T15:34:49 Vulkan: Create buffer for vertex array if robust enabled If robust access is enabled (i.e., chrome), we want to ensure vulkan driver never access beyond that OpenGL buffer boundary. But with suballocation from BufferPool, we are using the same VkBuffer for all suballocations from the same BufferBlock. this combined with the fact that there is no size information in the vkCmdBindVertexBuffers, it means vulkan driver can not properly ensure vertex access not go beyond the subrange. It can only guarantee not access beyond the entire VkBuffer size. This CL creates a dedicated vkBuffer object and bind it to the suballocation of the vkDeviceMemory so that vulkan driver will see the exact range of the subrange instead of entire buffer. Since we may allocated more memory than actual requested size and the extra paddings are not zero filled , user size is used to create this vkBuffer. This is only enabled when robust access is enabled. This CL also ported webgl conformance test out-of-bounds-index-buffers.html and out-of-bounds-array-buffers.html to end2end test. Note that Vulkan doesn't support NULL buffer bindings. Thus we create an emulated NULL buffer to work around the problem of having gaps in the bound vertex buffers. This allows us to use a single bind call for ranges of vertex buffers even when there are gaps. Also changes how vertex array dirty bits are reset. Instead of calling memset to clear the affected buffers we pass a mutable pointer to the Vertex Array sync state. This allows us to only reset the dirty bits that we sync. This saves on the memory clearing time. Improves perf by about 10% in the Vulkan VBO state change test. This uses the onDestroy hook for Textures to push errors up from destructors, although they still don't quite make it to the Context. There are places, such as in EGL object (Context/Surface) destruction, where we end up calling through to GL implementation internals without having access to a gl::Context. We handle this via a proxy Context to a Display, basically a null context, that has access to impl-side state like the Renderer pointer if necessary. It does not have access to the normal GL state. Also Pass gl::Context to RefCountObject::release(). Since we're using destroy() methods now, we should not ever call the destructor directly. Geoff Lang 520c4ae2 2015-05-05T13:12:36 Add a Buffer::getIndexRange function. Instead of exposing the index range cache, add a more generic method that allows the buffers to handle their own caching of index ranges. BufferImpl::getData can be hard to implement for BufferGL because there isn't a way to tell the buffer to unmap and glGetBufferSubData can be very expensive, requiring an extra copy of the data.
