Geoff Lang 18657894 2023-01-25T13:05:56 Add features to dump and replace shader source. dump_shader_source writes shader source strings to files named with the hash of the source and shader type. enable_shader_substitution allows subsituting the shader source with the strings contained in a file. The same file naming scheme as dump_shader_source is used so shaders can be dumped in one run, modified and subsititued in the next run. Use the ANGLE_SHADER_DUMP_PATH and debug.angle.shader_dump_path environment variables to control where files are written. If they are unspecified, write to the temp directory. Extend MTLRenderPipelineDescriptor validation to ensure that there is at least one valid render target set for the the render pipeline. This is required for certain families of metal devices to avoid a validation failure inside the metal framework. Moving the failure here will cause the app using ANGLE to return a GL error instead of crashing the process. The whole design is that we start a disjoint query in D3D11 at the first timestamp request and keep it continuously running in current context. Only end it and read it back when the user queries if there is a disjoint. We cache the frequency and assume it doesn't change. For the first timestamp, we create a temporary D3D disjoint query and end it so we have a frequency to convert the ticks to nanoseconds. Gregg Tavares be9e8e7b 2022-12-14T14:13:39 Add EGL_ANGLE_wait_until_work_scheduled extension We're changing eglReleaseTexImage so it calls flushCommandBuffer(mtl::NoWait) instead of flushCommandBuffer(mtl::WaitUntilScheduled) and then adding an extension to allow us to WaitUntilScheduled. This is because Chrome calls eglReleaseTexImage for every canvas and having it WaitUntilScheduled per call is very slow. So instead we'll call eglWaitUntilWorkScheduledANGLE once which will effectively wait just once. Once the task is complete, the linked pipeline handle is replaced by the monolithic one, gaining back any performance that might have been lost due to the use of libraries. Yuxin Hu 1434697f 2022-11-23T14:47:38 Add a vk feature flag to only enable precision match fixer on IMG According to https://gitlab.khronos.org/vulkan/vulkan/-/merge_requests/5273, RelaxedPrecision does not need to match in the interface matching rules. However, removing the precision match is causing triangle clipping issues on IMG hardware. This change adds a feature flag to only run the code path that applies precision match in SpirV if the hardware is IMG. This is a follow-up change to https://crrev.com/c/4049421. Instead of adding back the code path that handles varying precision mismatch for every hardware, only enabling the code path if the vendor is IMG. TracePerfTest has also been modified to use the new "RequiredExtensions" json field to determine if it should run a test or not. This allows several lines to be removed from TracePerfTest's constructor. get_min_reqs uses a divide-and-conquer strategy to find the extensions. This approach should be faster for traces where the number of required extensions is less than 20. This adds a new command to retrace_restricted_traces.py called get_min_reqs. This runs an existing trace multiple times to find what the minimum required GLES version is, then records that version to the trace's json file. There appears to be a race condition where XDestroyWindow+XCreateWindow ignores the new size (the same window normally gets reused but this only happens sometimes on some X11 versions). However, it turns out just doing that breaks things because tests get to termination before even giving the window a chance to set up fully (e.g. ConfigureNotify) which only happens after making the window visible.. so additionally block in setVisible until we get ConfigureNotify. aaand turns out RobustBufferAccessBehaviorTest requires setVisible(true) - tests fail when running on my local Linux and pass now that I added setWindowVisible! The test names are the same as they were before, but only the configured tests will run in a session. We could opt to simplify the test names in later CLs if we want to simplify the test running. Ideally we'd keep the perf reporting the same because then we'd keep the time series the same on the test infra. This also allows us to split up the trace tests into separate targets on the bots, which will better allow us to control the workloads and sampling of the tests. On tiler GPUs it will at least wait for renderpass to complete. Usually query enabled draws are very tiny (usually just draw a point to see if it is occluded or not), and query disabled draws are expensive. Some apps do issue a glFlush when switch from query draw to non-query draw, but app like dead_by_daylight does not issue such flush. In order to reduce the bubble, this CL ends renderpass and issue a flush when we switch from query enabled draws to non-query enabled draw so that the result will be available much earlier, this reduce the CPU bubble. This result in dead_by_daylight frame time improves from 5.45ms to 3.5ms (35% improvement). This brings the extension on par with the EGL_ANDROID_native_fence_sync extension. eglCopyMetalSharedEventANGLE allows for copying the Metal event object from EGLSync objects implemented by the ANGLE Metal renderer. This function follows Objective-C convention for "copy" methods and increases the retain count of the Metal event object. The EGL API user is thus responsible for ensuring to release the returned object to avoid memory leaks. For example, a test suite may override-enable a (normally disabled) feature that depends on a hardware capability. With this change, it can be skipped if said hardware capability doesn't exist. As a bonus, tests now correctly skip if the feature is overriden through an environment variable. This change also cleans up VulkanPerformanceCounterTest tests which did the same for a number of specific features. When decompress/delete callbacks not provided, new[] and delete[] are called from the fixture. AFAICT, gBinaryData == nullptr every time, even with a single test and --gtest_repeat=N, so we never delete the uncompressed data. When running multiple tests locally, I see RES usage grow significantly on Linux which this CL fixes. I don't think this matters for bot runs as we run tests one by one there. Chris Dalton 4a636cdd 2022-07-20T22:44:30 Require all PLS formats to consume exactly 4 bytes of storage D3D 11.0 UAVs only support R32_FLOAT, R32_UINT, R32_SINT formats. EXT_shader_pixel_local_storage explicitly states that all PLS variables consume exactly 4 bytes. ESSL images can only have both read and write access if their format is r32f, r32i, r32ui. (We were able to circumvent this via aliasing, but it was a huge source of bugs.) There is a large precedent for only supporting 4 bytes of storage in the capabilities we use for PLS, so this CL removes support for all PLS storage formats that are not 4 bytes. It also implements an "R32" mode for PLS, that does manual packing and unpacking of r32* image formats. If the application wants larger formats, it can always define multiple PLS planes and piece them together. Next up we ought to be able to support rg16* types with more packing/unpacking. With aliasing gone, and with a bit of tweaking, the PLS tests now pass on the Pixel 4 GLES bot. Shahbaz Youssefi f7d4c614 2022-03-30T23:33:27 Vulkan: Use VK_EXT_primitives_generated_query This Vulkan extension implements OpenGL's primitives generated query. The heavy lifting in ANGLE's implementation was done when this query was emulated with pipeline statistics query. This change simply switches pipeline statistics query usage to this dedicated query when available.
