Edward Thomson 725cd5f2 2014-10-24T16:44:07 Merge pull request #2646 from libgit2/cmn/remote-rename remote: accept a repo and name for renaming
Carlos Martín Nieto 46c8f7f8 2014-10-24T16:25:59 remote: accept a repo and name for renaming Remote objects are not meant to be changed from under the user. We did this in rename, but only the name and left the refspecs, such that a save would save the wrong refspecs (and a fetch and anything else would use the wrong refspecs). Instead, let's simply take a name and not change any loaded remote from under the user.
Carlos Martín Nieto 0862f617 2014-10-24T12:19:13 remote: delete git_remote_supported_url() This function does not in fact tell us anything, as almost anything with a colon in it is a valid rsync-style SSH path; it can not tell us that we do not support ftp or afp or similar as those are still valid SSH paths and we do support that.
Carlos Martín Nieto 55cb4999 2014-10-23T19:05:02 config: remove the refresh function and backend field We have been refreshing on read and write for a while now, so git_config_refresh() is at best a no-op, and might just end up wasting cycles.

Carlos Martín Nieto 262eec23 2014-09-30T16:07:30 remote: accept a repository and remote name for deletion We don't need the remote loaded, and the function extracted both of these from the git_remote in order to do its work, so let's remote a step and not ask for the loaded remote at all. This fixes #2390.
Carlos Martín Nieto db2f8263 2014-07-03T06:19:03 transaction: add documentation
Carlos Martín Nieto ab8d9242 2014-06-28T06:39:38 Introduce reference transactions A transaction allows you to lock multiple references and set up changes for them before applying the changes all at once (or as close as the backend supports). This can be used for replication purposes, or for making sure some operations run when the reference is locked and thus cannot be changed.
Carlos Martín Nieto 20363d58 2014-06-28T07:26:33 reflog: constify byindex
Carlos Martín Nieto 3f894205 2014-06-06T15:01:45 remote: allow overriding the refspecs for download and fetch With opportunistic ref updates, git has introduced the concept of having base refspecs *and* refspecs that are active for a particular fetch. Let's start by letting the user override the refspecs for download.
Carlos Martín Nieto a3b9270d 2014-09-30T09:32:24 describe: document the API
Carlos Martín Nieto 25345c0c 2014-09-30T09:18:22 describe: rename git_describe_opts to git_describe_options And implement the option init functions for this and the format options.
Carlos Martín Nieto fd8126e4 2014-09-30T08:54:52 describe: implement describing the workdir When we describe the workdir, we perform a describe on HEAD and then check to see if the worktree is dirty. If it is and we have a suffix string, we append that to the buffer.
Carlos Martín Nieto 3b6534b8 2014-09-30T07:19:14 describe: split into gather and format steps Instead of printing out to the buffer inside the information-gathering phase, write the data to a intermediate result structure. This allows us to split the options into gathering options and formatting options, simplifying the gathering code.
Carlos Martín Nieto 1f501a08 2014-09-30T04:58:02 describe: rename _object() to _commit() We don't describe arbitrary object, so let's give it the name of the one object type we accept.

Vicent Marti 1312f87b 2014-09-17T14:56:39 Merge pull request #2464 from libgit2/cmn/host-cert-info Provide a callback for certificate validation
Carlos Martín Nieto 1e0aa105 2014-09-16T03:22:09 ssh: expose both hashes The user may have the data hashed as MD5 or SHA-1, so we should provide both types for consumption.
Carlos Martín Nieto 286369a8 2014-09-16T02:27:16 ssh: provide our own types for host key lengths Instead of using the libssh2 defines, provide our own, which eases usage as we do not need to check whether libgit2 was built with libssh2 or not.
Carlos Martín Nieto 0782fc43 2014-09-16T01:47:30 net: use only structs to pass information about cert Instead of spreading the data in function arguments, some of which aren't used for ssh and having a struct only for ssh, use a struct for both, using a common parent to pass to the callback.
Carlos Martín Nieto 0fef3899 2014-09-16T01:25:53 Merge remote-tracking branch 'upstream/master' into cmn/host-cert-info
Carlos Martín Nieto 41698f22 2014-09-11T10:04:05 net: remove support for outright ignoring certificates This option make it easy to ignore anything about the server we're connecting to, which is bad security practice. This was necessary as we didn't use to expose detailed information about the certificate, but now that we do, we should get rid of this. If the user wants to ignore everything, they can still provide a callback which ignores all the information passed.
Carlos Martín Nieto 2aee4642 2014-08-31T23:16:19 transport: move the cert type enum to types.h This should make the mingw compiler happy.
Carlos Martín Nieto 17491f6e 2014-08-29T17:18:23 transport: always call the certificate check callback We should let the user decide whether to cancel the connection or not regardless of whether our checks have decided that the certificate is fine. We provide our own assessment to the callback to let the user fall back to our checks if they so desire.
Carlos Martín Nieto ec1ce458 2014-08-10T17:06:53 http: send the DER-encoded cert to the callback Instead of the parsed data, we can ask OpenSSL to give us the DER-encoded version of the certificate, which the user can then parse and validate.
Carlos Martín Nieto 9b940586 2014-07-04T12:45:43 Provide a callback for certificate validation If the certificate validation fails (or always in the case of ssh), let the user decide whether to allow the connection. The data structure passed to the user is the native certificate information from the underlying implementation, namely OpenSSL or WinHTTP.
Russell Belfer 1fbeb2f0 2014-09-15T21:59:23 Fix attribute lookup in index for bare repos When using a bare repo with an index, libgit2 attempts to read files from the index. It caches those files based on the path to the file, specifically the path to the directory that contains the file. If there is no working directory, we use `git_path_dirname_r` to get the path to the containing directory. However, for the `.gitattributes` file in the root of the repository, this ends up normalizing the containing path to `"."` instead of the empty string and the lookup the `.gitattributes` data fails. This adds a test of attribute lookups on bare repos and also fixes the problem by simply rewriting `"."` to be `""`.
Vicent Marti 89e05e2a 2014-09-03T12:50:44 Merge pull request #2543 from libgit2/cmn/known-transports Clean up transport lookup
Jameson Miller bc737620 2014-08-20T10:24:41 Introduce option to use relative paths for repository work directory Teach git_repository_init_ext to use relative paths for the gitlink to the work directory. This is used when creating a sub repository where the sub repository resides in the parent repository's .git directory.
Carlos Martín Nieto ba67c075 2014-08-31T17:16:40 remote: get rid of git_remote_valid_url() It does the same as git_remote_supported_url() but has a name which implies we'd check the URL for correctness while we're simply looking at the scheme and looking it up in our lists. While here, fix up the tests so we check all the combination of what's supported.

Vicent Marti 4ca0b566 2014-08-18T12:41:06 oid: Export `git_oid_tostr_s` instead of `_allocfmt` The old `allocfmt` is of no use to callers, as they are not able to free the returned buffer. Export a new API that returns a static string that doesn't need to be freed.
Edward Thomson c180c065 2014-07-09T17:58:39 Custom transport: minor cleanups * Move the transport registration mechanisms into a new header under 'sys/' because this is advanced stuff. * Remove the 'priority' argument from the registration as it adds unnecessary complexity. (Since transports cannot decline to operate, only the highest priority transport is ever executed.) Users who require per-priority transports can implement that in their custom transport themselves. * Simplify registration further by taking a scheme (eg "http") instead of a prefix (eg "http://").

Carlos Martín Nieto 7db0e6ee 2014-07-18T16:00:21 merge: expose multiple merge bases We always calculate multiple merge bases, but up to now we had only exposed the "best" merge base. Introduce git_oidarray which analogously to git_strarray lets us return multiple ids.

Carlos Martín Nieto 18eb6ec8 2014-07-08T09:56:16 Documentation fixes Fixup git_attr_value's comment to be recognised as documentation, and include the definitions needed for clang to parse reset.h such that it shows up in the documentation. This fixes #2430.
Carlos Martín Nieto d4256ed5 2014-07-04T10:00:39 ssh: provide a factory function for setting ssh paths git allows you to set which paths to use for the git server programs when connecting over ssh; and we want to provide something similar. We do this by providing a factory function which can be set as the remote's transport callback which will set the given paths upon creation.

Carlos Martín Nieto 6812afaf 2014-06-30T21:36:38 clone: remote git_clone_into{,_local} from the public API As git_clone now has callbacks to configure the details of the repository and remote, remove the lower-level functions from the public API, as they lack some of the logic from git_clone proper.
Carlos Martín Nieto d58a64e9 2014-06-30T20:55:32 clone: add a callback for repository creation Analogously to the remote creation callback, provide a way for the user of git_clone() to create the repository with whichever options they desire via callback.
Carlos Martín Nieto 00b8c216 2014-06-30T23:18:37 ssh: always declare the libssh2 types This lets a user decide they do want to use keyboard-interactive after they've compiled.
Carlos Martín Nieto eac63e67 2014-06-30T10:03:36 ssh: create the right callback signature based on build options When linking against libssh2, create the transport.h such that it contains its definition for custom crypto and keyboard-interactive callbacks. If we don't link against libssh2, create an equivalent signature which has void pointers instead of pointers to libssh2 structures. This would be one way to fix #2438.
Philip Kelley 1697cd6f 2014-06-25T13:20:27 Improvements to git_transport extensibility git_remote_set_transport now takes a transport factory rather than a transport git_clone_options now allows the caller to specify a remote creation callback
Carlos Martín Nieto d1c281a5 2014-06-25T16:24:26 cred: add convenience function to get the username Since each cred defines the username on their own, introduce git_cred__username to retrieve the username pointer from them.
Carlos Martín Nieto 54da6958 2014-06-25T15:41:01 cred: introduce username-only cred This exists as ssh needs to know about the username to use before it can query for the supported authentication methods.
Carlos Martín Nieto 8873728f 2014-06-16T19:10:04 Introduce GIT_EAUTH Introduce this error code to signal an authentication failure.

Carlos Martín Nieto 76f76162 2014-06-11T21:14:45 remote: update documentation Add docs for git_clone_local_t and move the docs for the git_clone_options to each field.
Carlos Martín Nieto 978fbb4c 2014-06-09T22:45:23 treebuilder: don't keep removed entries around If the user wants to keep a copy for themselves, they should make a copy. It adds unnecessary complexity to make sure the returned entries are valid until the builder is cleared.
Carlos Martín Nieto 4d3f1f97 2014-06-09T04:38:22 treebuilder: use a map instead of vector to store the entries Finding a filename in a vector means we need to resort it every time we want to read from it, which includes every time we want to write to it as well, as we want to find duplicate keys. A hash-map fits what we want to do much more accurately, as we do not care about sorting, but just the particular filename. We still keep removed entries around, as the interface let you assume they were going to be around until the treebuilder is cleared or freed, but in this case that involves an append to a vector in the filter case, which can now fail. The only time we care about sorting is when we write out the tree, so let's make that the only time we do any sorting.

Carlos Martín Nieto 99807672 2014-06-08T19:42:54 Change SOVERSION at API breaks Since the SOVERSION doesn't need to follow the library's version and simply needs to be monotonically increasing whenever we release something that breaks the ABI, we can set some number and allow multiple versions of the library to be installed side-by-side. We start here with the minor version as that's what we release for now, and it allows to backport this change to earlier versions.
Carlos Martín Nieto 231f350d 2014-06-06T22:55:34 remote: don't free the remote on delete This was a bad idea. Don't free except in the free function.
Carlos Martín Nieto 72bca13e 2014-06-06T16:33:54 remote: return problem refspecs instead of using a callback There is no reason why we need to use a callback here. A string array fits better with the usage, as this is not an event and we don't need anything from the user.
